Before and After

Before:
 After:

I sharpened the image so your can notice the details in the flower more. I think this enhanced the photo.

Before:

After:

I changed the levels in this photo to make it a little darker. The change isn't that noticeable but I think this helped make the photo look better.

I don't think correcting photos is bad as long as the change isn't huge and the image still looks real. I don't have a problem with editing photos, but for photos you want to frame on your wall, I would still want the picture to look real, so I would only make small changes, like sharpening the image or adjusting the levels a little.

Composition Techniques

Use Lines Effectively

I think this photo is a good example of line usage because my eyes first gravitated to the line of clouds and then their reflection in the water. My eyes followed the line of clouds and it led me to the bridge in the distance.

Rule of Thirds

This is a picture of Tokyo Tower in Japan. It uses the rule of thirds because the tower is positioned off to the left in the shot and stands out.

Fill the Frame

The flower in the picture fills the frame and there isn't any space behind the flower in the picture. This is an example of a photo that fills the frame.

Photo Analysis

Photo Analysis

I liked this photo because I had to look at it to figure out what was going on. It also must have been hard to take the picture from this angle, so the water droplet would end up right above the person's head. After studying the picture, I noticed there was some sand in the bottle and the sunset made the bottle appear lighter and the person running appeared as a sillouette. The photo looks like it was probably taken on the beach. The photographer probably wanted to take a picture no one's ever taken before and wanted to capture something that made people stop and think.

I liked this picture because this wasn't just an ordinary picture of crayons. The crayons are getting snapped in half but I'm still wondering what caused them to do that. The photographer wanted to show people something happening really fast, except frozen. I wonder how the photographer knew how to take the picture exactly at that moment.

This is a picture of something colorful splashing into the water, though I don't know what it is. It seems like the object dropped straight down, because the splash seems circular. The photographer must have taken this picture because most things make a clear splash in the water but this is colorful. It makes me want to know what the colorful thing is.

This photo grabbed my attention because it is a picture of a house, only, it's upside down. I am wondering how that house hasn't fallen over and how it balances on that point at the top of the roof. The photographer wanted to capture something people wouldn't think of as a "normal photo."

I liked this photo because there weren't a lot of colors and the red jacket grabbed my attention. I didn't realize the person was standing in water, I had to look at it closer. There is a body of water and a person is standing in the middle of it. I wonder how the photographer took this without messing up their equipment. I also wonder how the person in the photo is standing up. The water looks strong, so I wonder why they haven't been pulled away. Also, is the person standing in the middle of a lake or is it a flood? I think the photographer took this picture to tell a story and make people think about what's going on.

This is a picture of the Tokyo Star in Tokyo, Japan. I like how the star is made up of moving cars and it appears red, like a starfish. In the picture I see a pattern of a starfish on the streets of Tokyo and the city around it. I think the photographer wanted to capture something that stood out. I wonder how the person took this picture. Were they standing on a tower or were they in a plane?

I like this picture because the only way to get an image like this is if you are standing on a mountain, airplane, or high place. The picture is of clouds from a high view. Instead of looking at them from below, we are looking at it from above. I'm guessing the photographer wanted to show people the world from a different view. I wonder what it took to take this picture.

This is a picture of a forest. I like how it gives off an eerie and spooky feeling. In the distance there is some fog and the trees appear black because of the darkness. I think the photographer took the picture to make people feel a little bit creeped out. I wonder what it was actually like being in that woods and taking the shot.

This is a picture of a couple getting married. I really like it because it tells a story. I also like how the picture is in black and white. I think it kind of fits the mood. The subject of the photo must be the lady because the man is blurred. The photographer probably took the picture to show the happiness between the couple when they got married.

This is a lantern festival in Korea. I like this picture because it is very colorful. There are paper lanterns arranged in rows by color and I like how it shows what Korean culture is like. I'm guessing this is why the photographer wanted to take the picture. I wonder what the picture would look like if the photographer lowered the angle a little bit. I wonder what's below the lanterns?
